City of Joliet Public Safety Committee met May 3.

ROLL CALL

Present Councilwoman Jan Quillman, Councilman Larry E. Hug and Councilman Joe Clement

ALSO PRESENT: Deputy Chief Sherrie Blackburn, Deputy Chief Chris Botzum, Fire Chief Greg Blaskey, Fleet Director Jeff Price, and Operating Engineer Brent Fraser

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Councilman Clement, seconded by Councilman Hug, to approve the Minutes of the March 1, 2022 Public Safety Committee Meeting. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Councilwoman Quillman, Councilman Hug and Councilman Clement

CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS

Purchase of Rescue Boat

Fire Chief Blaskey discussed Purchase of one rescue boat for the Joliet Fire Department.

A motion was made by Councilman Hug, seconded by Councilman Clement, to recommend for approval Purchase of Rescue Boat. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Councilwoman Quillman, Councilman Hug and Councilman Clement

Standardization of Fire Turnout Gear TMP-3686

A motion was made by Councilman Clement, seconded by Councilman Hug, to recommend for approval to the Full Council Standardization of Fire Turnout Gear. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Councilwoman Quillman, Councilman Hug and Councilman Clement

Purchase of the Required Materials to Upfit Two (2) Ford Transit Vans into Prisoner Transport Vehicles (PTVs)

A motion was made by Councilman Hug, seconded by Councilman Clement, to recommend for approval to the Full Council Purchase of the Required Materials to Upfit Two (2) Ford Transit Vans into Prisoner Transport Vehicles (PTVs). The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Councilwoman Quillman, Councilman Hug and Councilman Clement

Purchase of Chain Link Perimeter Fencing, and Privacy Slats for JPD West Side Sub-Station (7196 W. Caton Farm Rd.)

A motion was made by Councilman Clement, seconded by Councilman Hug, to recommend for approval to the Full Council Purchase of Chain Link Perimeter Fencing, and Privacy Slats for JP West Side Sub-Station (7196 W. Caton Farm Rd.) The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Councilwoman Quillman, Councilman Hug and Councilman Clement

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS

Authorization to Purchase Radio Batteries and Replacement Parts

A motion was made by Councilman Clement, seconded by Councilman Hug, to recommend for approval to the Full Council Authorization to Purchase Radio Batteries and Replacement Parts. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Councilwoman Quillman, Councilman Hug and Councilman Clement

NEW OR OLD BUSINESS, NOT FOR FINAL ACTION OR RECOMMENDATION

Replacement of all Portable Radios in 2023 for the Fire Department.

Fire Chief Blaskey discussed replacement of all Portable Radios in 2023 for the Fire Department.

A brief discussion was held regarding replacement of Portable Radios in 2023 for the Fire Department as well as the Police Department.
