Public Service
Councilman Hug gave an overview and explanation of the items discussed at the Monday, February 28, 2022 Public Service Committee Meeting.
Director of Public Utilities Allison Swisher briefly discussed the water conservation and introduced Deputy Director-Engineering Tony Anczer. Mr. Anczer gave a brief presentation on the alternative water main construction.
A brief discussion was held regarding the communication with residents and restoration of the roadways after water main replacement projects.

CITY MANAGER:
The City Manager thanked Deputy Police Chief Brown for a job well done while serving as the Interim Police Chief.
NEW BUSINESS (Not for Final Action or Recommendation):
Councilman Hug suggested the City adopt an Ordinance allowing K-9 animals to go to their handlers without having to come to Council for approval or pay the one dollar fee.
Councilwoman Quillman thanked Deputy Chief Brown for his service as Interim Chief. She expressed her support for Ukraine.
Mayor O'Dekirk briefly discussed the City's gas tax. He read an email from IDOT concerning necessary repairs to the Cass Street bridge. He thanked Councilwoman Quillman for her efforts regarding the bridges.

MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS:
Councilman Clement thanked Deputy Police Chief Brown for his service as Interim Chief and welcomed new Police Chief Evans.
Councilman Guerrero highlighted upcoming health fair vaccinations and also thanked Deputy Chief Brown and welcomed new Police Chief Evans.
Councilman Hug requested that the City Manager look into crafting the K-9 Ordinance he spoke of earlier. He also thanked Deputy Police Chief Brown and welcomed Police Chief Evans. He expressed his thoughts and prayers for the war on Ukraine.
Councilman Morris also thanked Deputy Police Chief Brown and welcomed new Police Chief Evans.
Councilman Mudron also thanked Deputy Chief Brown and welcomed Police Chief Brown. He congratulated Joliet Catholic Academy on their wrestling state championship.
Councilwoman Quillman inquired about a business that was to open on Black Road.
Councilwoman Reardon also thanked Deputy Chief Brown and welcomed new Police Chief Brown.

Mayor O'Dekirk congratulated Joliet Catholic Academy's wrestling team on their state championship. He highlighted a Joliet Chamber event that honored the fire department and Chief Blaskey and Deputy Chief Carey for their work getting the COVID booster shots administered and thanked the Chiefs for their work, a water celebration for the water commission and thanked Minooka, Shorewood, Channahon, Romeoville, and Crest Hill for their partnership, a fundraiser for St. Baldrick's sponsored by Local 440, and the State of the City address at Harrah's Casino.
