State Rep. Larry Walsh Jr. (D-Joliet) is being asked to explain a very large donation to indicted former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.
Scott Greene strongly urged Walsh to resign.
“Are you ready for this? Read it and get mad. Yep. Get mad. In 2019 Larry Walsh Jr. sent Mike Madigan over $100,000 in a two day period from his "committee", to us plain folk it's also known as campaign funds," commented Scott Greene said on the Joliet Township Republican Organization Facebook page. "Dirty Money Larry Walsh Jr has some explaining to do. Walshy it's time for you to resign!!!."
Madigan was indicted last week for running a racketeering ring involved in a $150 million bribery scandal.
“Larry Walsh JR. sees the red wave coming,” Greene said. “No amount of money he gave to Madigan is going to help. It's not about money anymore. It's about freedom. It's about the rights of The People.”
Prominent positions were also noted in the indictment including the mention of the “future governor.” In its pages, Gov. J.B. Pritzker appears to have taken orders from Madigan regarding politically connected job-seekers, including former Chicago alderman Danny Solis who sought a six-figure state appointment.
Pritzker denied those accusations. “The governor does not recall Michael Madigan ever asking him to consider Danny Solis for any position," a Pritzker spokesman said in a statement.
In a statement, Madigan said he was “never involved in any criminal activity” in his 50 years in office. Madigan, who spent 36 years as House speaker, the longest in the country’s history is accused of using the office for personal gain. “I adamantly deny these accusations and look back proudly on my time as an elected official, serving the people of Illinois,” Madigan added.
