Republican state Rep. Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) is slated to host a July 12 fundraiser at Uptown in Plainfield.

The 90-minute long festivities kick off at 5:30 pm., with tickets at $50 per person and sponsorships starting at $250, with beer, wine and appetizers provided.

Interested parties can call 773-320-1150 or register by July 9 by contacting MAUREEN.ARTL@GMAIL.COM.

Batinick has also been busy pushing Republicans' Reimagine Illinois plan.

At a recent Springfield press conference, Batinick pressed residents to back the plan designed to curb all the mounting corruption in state government.

“As we know, there's an overarching if constantly ignored need for change and reform in Illinois,” he said. “We saw it in November when voters overwhelmingly said stop trying to raise taxes to fix the problems the General Assembly created. We see it every day when our friends, family and neighbors continue to leave Illinois for states with more opportunity and an honest government.”

Batinick said he finds it mind-blowing that roughly 700 bills were approved out of committee and sent to the House floor for debate but none of them had anything to do with substantive reforms.

Batinick argues it’s time to put the people of the state first by focusing on the issues that matter most to them.

“Issues like pension and property tax reform affect our constituents on a day-to-day basis,” he said. “We need to take legislation addressing these issues up on the House floor and debate approaches to solving our state's largest problems.”
