Crete Township Fire Protection District responded to 236 calls in 2018 - 38 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Crete included 134 fires - 110 structure fires, six vehicle fires and 18 other fires.

In all, the department saw $240,000 in fire loss - or about $1,791 per fire.

The department also received 102 false calls, including one malicious call and 101 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Crete Township Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $1,929,181 in 2018.
