University Park Fire District responded to 205 calls in 2018 - 15.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in University Park included 71 fires - 59 structure fires, five vehicle fires and seven other fires.

In all, the department saw $29,550 in fire loss - or about $416 per fire.

The department also received 134 false calls, including five malicious calls and 129 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The University Park Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 17 active employees and 18 retired or inactive employees, was $51,847 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $926 for every fire in 2017.
