Peotone FD responds to 120 fires in 2018

Peotone Fire District responded to 196 calls in 2018 - 10.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Peotone included 120 fires - 75 structure fires, nine vehicle fires and 36 other fires.

In all, the department saw $227,074 in fire loss - or about $1,892 per fire.

The department also received 76 false calls.

Two fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents.

The Peotone Fire District had an annual budget of $1,901,082 in 2018.

The Peotone FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has two active employees and one retired or inactive employee, was $56,845 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $586 for every fire in 2017.
