Wilmington FPD responds to 85 fires in 2018

Wilmington Fire Protection District responded to 202 calls in 2018 - 11 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Wilmington included 85 fires - 39 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and 39 other fires.

In all, the department saw $743,000 in fire loss - or about $8,741 per fire.

The department also received 117 false calls.

The Wilmington FPD Firefighter's Pension Fund, which has two active employees and retired or inactive employee, was $8,623 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $111 for every fire in 2017.
