The data shows that the 31 released offenders living in Joliet zip code were men. Of the parolees, two were veterans, and the median age was 40. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2017, and the oldest was a 68-year-old man convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2018.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Joseph Tyler. He was convicted of homicide in 2008, when he was 29 years old. He is now 41.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
