Q2 2019 Recap: Parolees in Will County convicted of homicide

There were five offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Will County during the second quarter of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Will County Gazette.

The data shows that all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 33. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 50-year-old man sentenced in 2019.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Kenneth J. Harris. He was convicted in 2014 when he was 29 years old. He is now 35.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
