Village of Plainfield Committee of the Whole met June 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Trustee Wojowski called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Board Present: Trustee Calkins, Trustee Larson, Trustee Newton, Trustee Wojowski, Trustee Benton, and Trustee Bonuchi. Board absent: Mayor Collins. Others present: Brian Murphy, Administrator; Michelle Gibas, Village Clerk; Jon Proulx, Planning Director; Allen Persons, Public Works Director; Lou Haussmann, Engineer; Scott Threewitt, Lead Engineer; Randy Jessen, Public Improvements Superintendent; Lonnie Spires, Building Inspector; Traci Pleckham, Management Services Director; and John Konopek, Chief of Police. There were approximately 3 persons in the audience.

Trustee Bonuchi moved to appoint Trustee Wojowski as this evening' s Chair. Second by Trustee Larson. Vote by roll call. Calkins, yes; Larson, yes; Newton, yes; Wojowski, yes; Benton, yes; Bonuchi, yes. 6 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.

Trustee Larson moved to approve the Minutes of Committee of the Whole Workshop held on May 13, 2019. Second by Trustee Newton. Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 opposed. Motion carried.

TRUSTEE COMMENTS 

Trustee Larson:

Verified that pink marks in the neighborhood mean work will be done.

Congratulated the winners of the Police Awards.

Trustee Benton encouraged everyone to be aware of motorcycles.

WORKSHOP 

1) 135TH STREET CORRIDOR STUDY 

Mr. Lou Haussmann, Baxter and Woodman, gave a presentation reviewing the 135th Street Corridor Study. Mr. Haussmann reviewed the objectives, project limits, existing conditions, existing geometry, and crash data. Mr. Haussmann reviewed 2050 future traffic projections and how they relate to the current conditions and proposed improvements. Mr. Haussmann then reviewed the proposed improvements including pedestrian access in the intersection as well as pedestrian access across the East Norman Drain and across the DuPage River. Mr. Haussmann also reviewed project costs, potential funding options, project timeline, and next steps.

After some general discussion, it was the consensus of the Board to have staff share the study and start discussions with IDOT.

2 IL ROUTE 59/CHAMPION DRIVE TRAFFIC SIGNAL 

Mr. Scott Threewitt, Lead Engineer, gave a presentation regarding a traffic signal at IL Route 59 and Champion Drive. Mr. Threewitt stated that IDOT is the lead agency and staff has been working with IDOT on the design. Mr. Threewitt stated that the project is identified in IDOT' s 2019-2024 Plan, but they have not yet identified a specific year for completion. Mr. Threewitt pointed out that IDOT will be requesting the Village' s financial commitment to the project which would be approximately 50, 000.00 and the agreement will come to the Board for formal approval at a future Village Board Meeting.

Trustee Wojowski read the reminders.

On a motion from Trustee Larson and second by Trustee Bonuchi, the meeting adjourned at 8: 17 p.m
