2019 Severe Weather Spotter Training / Health and Safety Expo – April 30, 2019

Dan provided a synopsis of the 2019 Severe Weather Spotter Training / Health & Safety Expo, which was held on April 30, 2019 at Lincoln-Way West High School. Dan noted that approximately 300 citizens were in attendance for the training, which made it the largest Severe Weather Spotter Training held in Will County this year. Dan mentioned that although 300 is a formidable number, approximately 600 registered via Eventbrite.

The same thing happened last year so the group has to be mindful that the Eventbrite registration numbers are not really an accurate predictor for attendance.

Dan also mentioned that two organizations were “no-shows” for the Health and Safety Expo. Although a number of reminders were sent, neither organization provided any type of communication that they would not be in attendance. As such, they will likely not be invited back next year as there were other organizations who would have gladly participated had a proper cancelation notice been given.

Regional Emergency Operations Plan

No one from the Will County Emergency Management Agency was in attendance to provide an update.

Dan advised that in support of National Preparedness Month New Lenox CERT will host their 15th Basic CERT Class starting on Wednesday September 11th.
