Q2 2018 Recap: Parolees in Joliet convicted of sex crimes

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in Joliet during the second quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Will County Gazette.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in Joliet were men. The younger parolee was a 29-year-old man sentenced in 2018. The other was a 34-year-old man sentenced in 2014.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Julian L. Santos. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2018 when he was 27 years old. He is now 29.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
