Former state school employee Haley Borodine paid in $15K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $769K in retirement

Former state school employee Joanne Haley Borodine, who retired in July 2018, saved $14,599 toward a pension over 8 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Haley Borodine would collect as much as $768,889, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Will County Gazette.

The projection assumes Haley Borodine received $16,161 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 1 years of retirement, Haley Borodine will have already received $16,161 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
