The price of local government in 2017: Homer Township

The Homer Township budget was $11.51 million for its 2017 fiscal year.

That's a decrease of 10.5 percent from 2016, when the township spent $12.87 million.

Homer Township has a population of 39,059.

Since 2001, the Homer Township budget has fallen by 7.6 percent, from $12.46 million. The township population has grown 34.7 percent over the same period, from 29,000.

Salaries accounted for 15.1 percent of township spending in 2017. Homer Township property taxpayers paid $1.73 million for 33 full-time employees and nine part-time employees.

In 2001, the township had 22 full-time employees and 15 part-time employees, and spent $1.13 million.
