Valley View Community Unit School District 365U issued the following announcement on Dec. 8.
The students of the Bolingbrook HS National Honor Society support several community organizations throughout the year by their fundraising efforts. This year, for the third year in a row, the NHS students specifically raised funds for Bolingbrook Operation Christmas.
Over 30 days, the 165 Bolingbrook HS NHS members raised $4000 and then an additional $1000 was added to the total from previous fundraising. On Tue. Dec. 11, Operation Christmas asked their community partners from the Bolingbrook Fire Department to pick up five NHS representatives at Bolingbrook HS in a fire truck and transport the students to the Bolingbrook Target for the Operation Christmas shopping event.
The student reps were grouped with people from the fire department, Fiesta Market, and Chicago Office Technology Group (COTG) to shop for items in various children’s age groups. The students later delivered the gifts to Operation Christmas.
