Lawrence "Larry" Walsh, Jr. led Republican Rick Laib in votes cast in Joliet Township for the District 86 state House race, according to the latest vote count.
Walsh appeared to outpace Laib by a margin of 53.3 percent on Tuesday in the township.
In comparison, the 2014 winner, Democrat Lawrence "Larry" Walsh, won by a margin of 43.4 percent in that jurisdiction, beating Republican Diane Harris, who received 4,489 votes to Walsh's 11,365.
