Minooka Community Consolidated School District 201 students suspended 93 times in a single school year

Minooka Community Consolidated School District 201 reported 93 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 93 students during the year. That equates to 2 percent of the 4,603 students enrolled.

Of the 77 in-school suspensions, 66 were given to boys and 11 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 64 incidents. There were 12 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 57 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 16 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes eight incidents. There were seven incidents of unspecified reasons. For nine incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
