Crete Township Fire Protection District responded to 171 calls in 2017 - 2.3 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Crete included 104 fires - 76 structure fires, nine vehicle fires and 19 other fires.

In all, the department saw $297,910 in fire loss - or about $2,865 per fire.

The department also received 67 false calls, including four malicious calls and 63 other false calls.

The Crete Township Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $2,185,753 in 2017.
