Bolingbrook Fire Department responded to 839 calls in 2017 - 2 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Bolingbrook included 159 fires - 49 structure fires, 47 vehicle fires and 63 other fires. The fire department also responded to 14 calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $1,311,132 in fire loss - or about $8,246 per fire.

The department also received 666 false calls, including 22 malicious calls and 644 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Bolingbrook Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 86 active employees and 67 retired or inactive employees, was $4,117,825 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $30,278 for every fire in 2016.
