Crest Hill Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 21.
If you drove through Crest Hill last Friday morning, it is likely you saw a dancing policeman dressed up like a donut standing atop the Plainfield Road Dunkin' Donuts. The Crest Hill Police Department volunteered to collect donations for the Special Olympics Illinois during the annual Cop On A Rooftop evnet. Cop On A Rooftop celebrated its 16th year with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois. Nearly 300 locations in Illinois participated in raising more than $720,000 for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. Crest Hill did its part and raised just under $2,000. Since the event started in 2002, more than $3.9 million has been raised through this unique partnership.
Among the Crest Hill police volunteers were Chief Ed Clark, Deputy Chiefs Bradly Hertzmann and Anthony Rossetti, Sergeant's David Reavis and Jason Opiola, and Officer's Joel Steen, Joseph Locasto, Heidi Outlaw, Dean Ivan, and Michael Brown. Volunteers from the Crest Hill Lions club included Laurie Thrasher and Jim Brown.
