Report: Mokena spent $11,958 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Mokena School District 159 is up 54 percent from five years ago, according to a Will County Gazette analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Will County school district spent $7,759 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $11,958 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1733 to 1564.

Mokena's spending in 2016-17 was 8 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
