Rick Laib, Republican candidate for the 86th House District, will soon kick off his first fundraiser for the general election.
Laib's campaign will host the fundraiser from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 3 at Loco's Mexican Restaurant, 1121 Essington Road in Joliet. Tickets are $35 per person or $50 per couple and can be purchased at https://www.ricklaib2018.com.
In November's general election, Laib will square off against Rep. Lawrence Walsh Jr. (D-Joliet), who has been in office for six years.
Rick Laib
Laib, a native of Joliet and a sergeant with the Will County Sheriff's Office, has focused much of his campaign on restricting government spending and the fact that he is a political newcomer, with a campaign slogan of "Let's see something new in 2018."
"I believe citizens should be able to keep more of the money that they earn," Laib said on his campaign website.
Laib has a Master of Arts from Biola University and a Master of Theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has served in the U.S. Army Reserves and has worked at the Will County Sheriff's Office since 1996.
