Analysis: Joliet pays $5.68 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Joliet Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 85 percent of the $14,516,079 the Joliet Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.68 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Will County Gazette analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Joliet contributed $12,332,156 to the fund, which saw a $277,873 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $2,170,300, or 15 percent, in 2016. Another $13,623 came from other unspecified sources.
