Several townships and districts have referendums on the ballot for March 20 that would increase their taxes and thus the sizeable debt loads already incurred by taxpayers.
According to a bulletin from the office of Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots, Wilton Township has a proposition on the ballot to create a new tax rate for joint bridge tax purposes.
Proposals that would increase the debt load include a Frankfort Square Park District (Will and Cook counties) proposition to issue $1.5 million in park bonds; White Oak Library District has a proposition to increase the limiting rate; and Minooka Community Consolidated School District No. 201 (Grundy, Kendall and Will counties) has a proposition to issue $90 million in school building bonds.
In addition, the Custer Fire Protection District and the Troy Fire Protection District both have propositions to increase their limiting rates, and the Troy District in Kendall and Will counties has a referendum on the ballot to create a new tax rate for pension fund purposes.
