Beecher Community Unit School District 200U Transportation Committee met December 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm by committee member, Janet Paulmeier.

1. Old Business

a. Discussion took place regarding implementing bus transportation accommodation and charges for students who are not eligible for transportation. Mr. McCartney suggested the matter be discussed with both the Finance and Transportation Committees and possibly put into place a fee for the next school year.

2. New Business

a. Marla Heldt, Transportation Coordinator and Jim Crocker, Transportation Mechanic provided a proposal to purchase a new 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan in the amount of $19,800.00. Details regarding the vehicle, utilization of the vehicle, and budgeted costs for the vehicle were also provided. Discussion took place.

The Transportation Committee recommends to the full Board of Education, the purchase of a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan for a cost of $19,800.00 plus the cost for plates and title registration processing.

b. Marla Heldt, Transportation Coordinator and Jim Crocker, Transportation Mechanic provided a proposal to purchase a new 2017 Chevrolet Collins Mini Bus, 32-passenger, to be utilized for special education purposes. Again, details regarding the vehicle, utilization of the vehicle, and budgeted costs for the vehicle were provided. Discussion took place.

The Transportation Committee recommends to the full Board of Education, the purchase/lease of a 2017 Chevrolet Collins in the amount of $63,720.00 plus the cost for plates and title registration processing. Annual lease payments will be $12,744.00.

c. Mr. McCartney informed the Transportation Committee that the Beecher Police had notified him and requested to allow a police officer to ride a bus route to observe surrounding traffic and drivers to address a concern of stop arm violations and driving of other individuals on a daily basis.

A future transportation meeting date is planned for Monday, January 29, 2018.

Meeting was adjourned at 5:11 pm.
