Summit Hill School District 161 Board of Education met Oct. 11.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
The meeting was called to order by President Rich Marron. Secretary, Dave Faber called roll. Members in attendance were: Rich Marron, Dave Faber, Joy Murphy, George Leonard and Jim Martin. Members absent: Stacey Borgens and Patricia Martin. Others in attendance were: Superintendent Rains, Leslie DeBoer, John Snipes, Doug Wiley, principals and members of the community.
Indian Trail Presentation
Indian Trail fourth grade students in the Newspaper and Technology Clubs presented their quarterly newscast they created to the Board of Education.
Recognition
Recognized Francie Boss, Jason Isdonas, Dana Wright, Mike Ruffalo, Tracy Bulfer, Laura Goebel, Maura Carroll, Dr. Dan Pierson and Colin Bradley in celebration of the National Principals Month
Freedom of Information Requests
Superintendent Rains stated that FOIA requests were made by Rosa Garza and Steven Wahlert and were completed in the appropriate timeframe.

Approval of Consent of Agenda
Mr. Faber asked that the October Bills List be removed from the consent of agenda and be read as a separate motion.

Authorization to Conduct Levy Hearing
A motion was made by Mr. Martin and seconded by Mr. Leonard that the Board of Education authorize the publication of notice of the Levy Hearing at 7 p.m. on December 13, 2017. Acceptance of the 2016-2017 Audit

Authorization to Publish Annual Statement of Affairs
A motion was made by Mr. Martin and seconded by Mr. Leonard that the Board of Education authorize the Superintendent to pubish the Fiscal Year 2017 Annual Statement of Affairs. First Reading of Board Policies
A motion was made by Mrs. Murphy and seconded by Mr. Leonard that the Board of Education approve the first reading of Board Policy 2:210, 2:260, 4:70, 6:80, 6:180, 6:210, 6:290, 6:330, 7:80, 7:160, and 8:70 as presented. Approval of Resolution to Declare Unneeded Items as Surplus

IASB Resolutions
Mr. Marron ask that this item be tabled until the next meeting due to the fact that Mrs Borgens was absent and she is the IASB liaison.
Enrollment Report
Mrs. Rains stated that there are 2,965 students enrolled in Summit Hill School District 161.

ESY Dates for Summer 2018
Superintendent Rains stated that the Extended School Year Program (ESY) will run from June 19, 2018 through July 25, 2018.
AESOP Implementation Update
Superintendent Rains stated that the new absence management system (AESOP) will begin on October 16.
Building Operations Reports
Mrs. Rains stated that the Building and Operation Reports would be a standing item on the agenda to help keep the board informed on various projects.
