The calls in East Joliet included 63 fires - 14 structure fires, 19 vehicle fires and 30 other fires.
In all, the department saw $367,310 in fire loss - or about $5,830 per fire.
The department also received 97 false calls, including four malicious calls and 93 other false calls.
The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.
The East Joliet FPD Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 11 active employees and seven retired or inactive employees, was $10,040 in debt as of August 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $159 for every fire in 2016.
