Will County Democrat in the House Natalie Manley (D-Joliet) recently received a letter from the Illinois Republican Party, drawing her attention to the permanent property tax freeze she voted for in January and calling for action on property tax relief now.
The letter was written from the perspective of the bill, House Bill 6630, and criticized the recipient for considering the bill part of an "extreme right-wing agenda."
"It's me, H.B. 6630. I know you've been working with a lot of other bills lately (everything except a balanced budget it seems), but I just wanted you to remember me," the letter begins.
This tax freeze bill died in the Senate, and the current proposed freeze from the Democrats has "major gaps," according to an Illinois GOP press release.
"When you voted for me, it meant something? Right?" the letter states. "If it did, please stand up for me."
Other House Democrats who received the letter include John D'Amico, Fred Crespo, Deb Conroy, Marty Moylan, Michelle Mussman, Carol Sente, Sam Yingling, Sue Scherer, Dan Beiser, Jerry Costello, Brandon Phelps, Jaime Andrade Jr., Luis Arroyo, Linda Chapa LaVia, Scott Drury, Sara Feigenholtz, Mary Flowers, Elizabeth Hernandez, Jay Hoffman, Camille Lilly, Rita Mayfield, Silvana Tabares, Litesa Wallace, Ann Williams, Kathleen Willis and Speaker Mike Madigan.
