6. Chairman’s Report
Vice-Chairman Seggebruch expressed that the Commission missed Chairwoman Vasko and wished her well during her recovery. Seggebruch stated that he had been Vice- Chairman for a few years and this is his first chance to be Chairman.
Seggebruch informed the Commission that Governor Rauner signed an executive order to abolish the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency as a separate entity and move it under the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Historically, IHPA was under a different agency before being separated and combined with the Lincoln Presidential Museum. The museum will now be a separate entity. This transition is estimated to save $3M.
Seggebruch expressed his appreciation for the condolences received on his father’s passing. The obituary written by Seggebruch should be published by the Peotone Vedette this week.
7. Staff’s Report
Wilkosz discussed that on April 29, 2017 from noon to 2pm, members of the commission will take a tour of the Grand Army of the Republic in Aurora, IL. The tour is from noon to 2pm, and afterwards they will be able to visit the David L. Pierce Art and History center across the street from the site.
Wilkosz discussed that the WCHPC will have a table at the Homer Glen Earth Day/Arbor Day event. Nagel volunteered to set up and man the table for WCHPC. The event is to take place at the Konow Farm inside the Tilsy Barn in Homer Glen.
Wilkosz noted that the Commission was awarded the IHPA CLG 2017 grant to complete the Washington Township survey only, not Washington and Monee Townships. The grant agreement will be voted on at the next Commission meeting. It was noted by a
couple of the commissioners that staff should explore other options to perform the survey for Monee Township since the CLG grant would not fund it.

9. New Business
Discussion of 25th Anniversary Celebration The Commission explored three options for the Commission’s 25th Anniversary to be decided upon at a future meeting: (1) celebration as part of the regular September meeting; (2) county-wide bus tour of landmarks; (3) non-meeting/separate celebration. The Commission will need to also determine (1) location (Four Rivers in Channahon or Wilmington); (2) attendees/invitees (IHPA, elected officials, landmark owners, etc.); (3) guest speakers/presentations.
Discussion of WCHPC Goals and Objectives Staff updated the draft 2017 Goals and Objectives sheet with the suggestions from the Commissioners. The final will be reviewed and voted upon at the May meeting.
