Naperville Township Supervisor Rachel Ossyra is applauding the Arlington Heights-based Daily Herald’s recent endorsement of a proposed municipal merger of road districts in Naperville and Lisle townships.
“The Daily Herald Editorial Board has endorsed the merger of the Naperville Township and Lisle Township Road Districts,” Ossyra, who is running for re-election, said on Facebook. “I agree with their endorsement and appreciate the many elected officials in Naperville and Aurora who are working collaboratively together to make this an historic accomplishment to streamline government and its costs."
Ossyra said there are many benefits to the merger.
"I've actively supported the effort … to create a more efficient system, capture economies of scale and eliminate redundant costs and assets,” Ossyra posted.
Building on the idea of collaboration, Ossyra also recommended that the district governments consider joining forces so as to have personnel share work space in order to assist in communication efforts, streamline operations and eliminate potential redundancy.
“[We] should determine the service and cost benefits and feasibility of co-locating teams together, deepening their coordination and wrap-around services for residents and creating new efficiencies,” she said.
