Lockport City Council discusses economic development

The Lockport City Council met Jan. 18 to discuss economic development.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the council:

The council typically meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Central Square Building, 222 E. Ninth St.

The Regular City Council Meeting was held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in the

Board Room, 3rd Floor, of the Central Square Building.

Mayor Steven Streit called the Meeting to order at 8:37 p.m.

5. Appointment to the Plan and Zoning Commission: Motion to appoint Ken Sheppard

effective January 19, 2017 to replace Lance Thies on the Plan & Zoning Commission

for the remainder of the current term which expires April 1, 2017.

6. PZC Case #2016-016: Special Use Permit for one-family attached dwelling/1340

S. Washington Street: Motion to approve Ordinance No. 17-001/ An Ordinance

approving a Special Use Permit for a one family attached dwelling unit for the

property located at 1340 S. Washington Street.

7. PZC Case #2016-015: Final Development Plans for a Building Expansion (Aldi Inc.)

16060 S. Farrell Road/Resolution No. 17-003: Motion to approve Resolution No.

17-003/ A Resolution approving Final Development Plans for a 2,056 SF building

Expansion (Aldi Incorporated/16060 S. Farrell Road).

8. 151st Street Water Main Extension: Motion to enter into a Contract with Strand

Associates for $28,000 for Design Services on the extension of Water Main on

151st Street and MacGregor Road to Illinois Route 171.

PZC CASE #2016-014: SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR A PUBLIC SCHOOL AND FINAL

DEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR TWO (2) BUILDING ADDITIONS TO BE LOCATED ON

THE WEST AND SOUTH SIDES OF THE EXISTING BUILDING (LOCKPORT

TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL)/1323 E. 7TH STREET/ORDINANCE NO. 17-002

This item was initially presented to the Committee of the Whole on January 4th, the

Council had no concerns with the proposed building additions. There were questions

about the replacement tree schedule and payment of review fees. However, Staff

was directed to place this item onthis evening's Committee of the Whole Meeting

Agenda again in order to discuss an unrelated matter concerning a sidewalk project.
