Naperville Central might have some golfers playing deep into the fall this year.
Redhawks coach Barry Baldwin said that Tommy Dunsire, Jack Noha and Ryan Cagan should be state-meet qualifiers this season.
Dunsire, a junior whom Baldwin said “should be one of the best in the state this year,” was a sectional qualifier last season and is in his third year on varsity. So far this season, he has finished second in the Vern McGonagle Invitational in Naperville.
Cagan, a junior, also is in his third varsity season, while Noha, a senior, is in his second year.
Also on the team this season are seniors Tim Caseria and Hayden Williams, each in his second varsity season, and junior Jack Ryan, who is in his first year.
“Behind the big three scores of Dunsire, Noha and Cagan, the team needs someone to be the fourth in the 70s and we can compete with anybody,” Baldwin said.
Already this season, Naperville Central has finished third in the 12-team Bob Sterr Invitational.

Three of the top five players return from last year’s team that took second in the Southwest Pioneer Conference and finished fifth in the Class 2A Naperville Central Regional.
Junior Nate Kirberg was all-conference and a sectional qualifier last season, while junior Gavin Doyle was all-conference and classmate Drew Moskaluk qualified for sectionals. Another key golfer this season is senior Cade Clinton.
“With only two seniors on our team, I’m excited about the competition on the back end of the lineup and getting guys varsity experience,” coach Mike Kneip said.
