Former Lewis University men's basketball star Kyle Nelson has signed a contract to play for a team in the Czech Republic.
Nelson signed with BK Klatovy in the Czech Basketball Federation, becoming the sixth former Flyer to sign a professional contract in 11 years under head coach Scott Trost.
Nelson, a St. Charles native, played for the Lewis program from the 2012-13 season through the 2015-16 campaign. In his collegiate career, the 6-foot-7-inch center started 112 out of 117 games and averaged 9.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest and is third all-time at Lewis in career blocked shots with 130 and field-goal percentage at .599. In his senior season, Nelson averaged a career-high 12.8 points and 6.6 rebounds a game en route to earning a spot All-Great Lakes Valley Conference second team.
Other former Flyers who signed professional contracts include Stephan Bolt, Brandon Dagans, Chris McClellan, Julian Lewis and Ryan Jackson.
