Meeting Minutes

July 12, 2016

The meeting was held at 4:01 p.m. in the West Wing Conference Room located at 400 S. Eagle Street in Naperville.

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 4:01 p.m. by Chairman Kenn Miller and attendance taken by Kathy Mackenzie:

Police Dept. Liaison: Commander Tom Kammerer

Fire Dept. Liaison: Deputy Chief Rick Sander

BOFPC Liaison: Kathy Mackenzie, Sr. Administrative Assistant

Minutes:

A motion was made by Chairman Kenn Miller to accept the minutes of the June 28, 2016 meeting, seconded by Commissioner Kim Widup. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.

Police Department Status Report

Update

Commander Kammerer reported that he will be at Boston University July 16 through August 8, 2016 for a Senior Management Forum.

Naperville PD will be sending two Honor Guard to the funerals of the Dallas police officers.

Fire Department Status Report

Update

Deputy Chief Sander reminded the commissioners that there will be a swearing-in and promotion ceremony on Thursday, July 14 at 3 p.m. in City Council Chambers.

Five (5) new firefighter/paramedics will start on Monday, July 18, 2016.

New Business

1. Administrative Regulation 1.04, 3.14 (and 4.15) were reviewed.

Board of Fire and Police Commissioners

2. Lumbar x-ray for the Police and Fire Department as part of the pre-employment medical testing. The information from Dr. Williamson-Link was reviewed and the departments provided their input. The testing protocols will remain the same.

3. Kathy Mackenzie noted that the number of applications acquired for the Police Officer position as of July 7, 2016 was 325. There have been 93 applications purchased for the Firefighter/Paramedic position.

Action Taken

1. A motion was made by Commissioner Kim Widup to change Administrative Regulation 1.04 from Draft to Approved. It was seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.

2. A motion was made by Commissioner Mary Schulte to change Administrative Regulation 3.14 and 4.15 from Draft to Approved. It was seconded by Commissioner Kim Widup. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.

3. A motion was made by Commissioner Mary Schulte to continue in the process firefighter/paramedic candidate Katherine Dye Webster #58. It was seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.

4. A motion was made by Commissioner Kim Widup to accept the closed session minutes of the June 28, 2016 closed session meeting and retain restriction, seconded by Commissioner Benny White. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.

Adjournment

A motion was made by Commissioner Mary Schulte to adjourn the meeting at 5:32 p.m., seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
