Lemont Art and Culture Commission met Tuesday, April 12.
The Lemont Art & Culture Commission is committed to enriching the cultural landscape of Lemont, having been instrumental in brining many public art projects to the community.

Old Business The corrected March minutes were accepted by Emily and seconded by Mona. There is $30,105.41 in the accumulated account.
We are in need of two commissioners. K. C. Wallenberg is a possible candidate.
Sue emailed Heather about the possibility of a newer laptop. Heather responded that she would speak to her husband. The loan to Night Blue has not been repaid. Mona will contact Dave again. There is no new information on Rob Moriarty’s summer workshop.
Committee Reports Village Liaison — Ron Stapleton stated that their possibilities for new businesses in town.
Sullivan Kitchen and Bath and Sanctuary have closed.
Art Organizations – The guild is meeting April 20 at the Homer Library with a presentation from an iconographer.
Volunteer and Business Coordinator – The guild has volunteered during their current exhibition. Sue did some finalizing with the volunteers. Sue will open on Sunday, April 17.
Fundraising — Joe suggested that spring breaks be considered when choosing a date for a spring Gala in 2017. Possible dates 2-25 (before Lent), 3-4, 3-11, and 3-18.
School Liaison — Mona has coordinated the instructors and materials for the art instruction at River Valley and Oakwood Schools. Currently those students do not receive art class during the school year. The classes will be held the first two weeks in May and is being funded by District 113a Education Fund. The grant is for $2500.
Grants — No new information.
Artist of the Month – Heather Knies has Bill Uznanski as the April artist of the month. Heather is in need of some suggestions for future artists of the month. Please contact Heather with any suggestions at heatherk28(a)comeast.net with artists’ names.
Social Media – The commission is uncertain if Terri will continue in her assistance. Joe suggested that we seek another intern for the summer. He will contact Elmhurst, J.J.C., and other local colleges.
Gallery Exhibits Sue and Mona installed the new exhibit of artists from the Lemont Artist’s Guild. The reception will be held on Wednesday, April 27" from 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Mona is working with Clayspace for possible dates. Other potential exhibits may be a photo exhibit of Lemont area or a stained glass exhibit. Nick will contact a stained glass artist.
New Business
The Lemont Area Historical Society wants to collaborate about an art tour throughout Lemont. More information should be forthcoming. Sue Roy, the president, is scheduled to attend the May ACC meeting.
The winner from the Split the Pot held at the Lemont Loves the Arts’ reception donated the winnings back to the Center.
Pat Camalliere, author of History and Anecdotes of Lemont, Illinois gave the Center a copy of her recent book. Portions of the Rudy Kling mural have been replicated for the cover of the book.
Ron was able to temporarily fix the connection for the phone. It appears that the wall connection may need further work. Thank you, Ron.
The Center will be closed on Sunday, May 8, 2016 in honor of Mothers’ Day.
The next general meeting is scheduled for May 10, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 7:56 p.m.
