The City of Aurora recently announced that construction crews will work overnight over this upcoming weekend for the construction on the Ohio Street Bridge.
Work will continue from 8 p.m. Friday, June 17 to 8 a.m. Saturday, June 18; and again from 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 to 8 a.m. Sunday, June 19.
The Ohio Street Bridge has been closed to traffic since 2015 for reconstruction of the bridge, which was built in 1922. When complete in the fall, the bridge will be a wider two-lane structure with a sidewalk on the east side and a multi-use path for bicycles and pedestrians on the west side. The bridge will also provide additional clearance for BNSF trains to meet newer safety standards.
Motorists should continue to follow the posted detour routes.
