Construction on the County Line Road Widening and Resurfacing Project in Joliet is set to begin on Monday, October 6, 2025. The project will require a full closure of Tom Giarrante Drive at the intersection with County Line Road for the duration of construction. A detour will direct traffic to Hadrian Drive.
The work involves expanding County Line Road from Kennedy Drive to Van Dyke Road into a four-lane section. Additional improvements include extending a box culvert beneath the new pavement, resurfacing existing pavement, installing or adjusting storm sewers, adding new curbs and sidewalks, upgrading street lighting, and restoring disturbed areas with seed on the east side of County Line Road.
During construction, one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained using temporary controls and safety measures. Drivers are advised to be cautious of stopped vehicles and changing traffic patterns as work progresses. Delays during daytime hours are expected, and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.
“It is anticipated that construction of these improvements will be completed within 4 to 6 weeks.”
