The City of Joliet has announced that lane closures will take place on Black Road between Catherine Street and N. Prairie Avenue starting September 29, 2025. The closures are part of a project to reconstruct and repair manholes in the area.

During this period, traffic on Black Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction. This temporary change is expected to last until October 8, 2025. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes while the work is underway.

"We appreciate your patience and ask that you drive slowly and cautiously through any construction zone," the city stated. Additional information about the project can be found at www.joliet.gov/construction-zone. For questions, residents can contact the Public Utilities Department at (815) 724-4220.

Joliet is located in Will and Kendall counties, about 30 miles southwest of Chicago. According to the 2020 census, it is Illinois’ third largest city with a population of over 150,000. More details about Joliet are available at https://www.joliet.gov.
