The Park Forest Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, at Village Hall, located at 350 Victory Drive. The meeting will be held in the board room and is open to the public. Residents who are unable to attend in person can watch a live stream of the proceedings through the Village’s official website.

One item on the agenda is final action on an ordinance approving a resubdivision plat for property at 97 N. Orchard Drive, which is adjacent to the Village’s Fire Training Area. The proposed resubdivision would create a new buffer lot between the training grounds and nearby homes, clarify utility easements, and preserve access for School House Manor residents. According to staff, this move could also help position part of the parcel for future redevelopment along Orchard Drive.

Trustees will also consider a resolution authorizing up to $250,000 in funding for infrastructure improvements near Blackhawk School. This project includes new sidewalks, ADA upgrades, crosswalks, and a dedicated bike path. "Village officials said the project is designed in partnership with Park Forest-Chicago Heights School District 163 and will be fully reimbursed through the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School program."

Several agenda items relate to planned improvements along South Orchard Drive between Sauk Trail and Blackhawk Drive. These include voting on appropriating $94,400 in Motor Fuel Tax funds for Phase 1 engineering work; considering a formal agreement with state authorities outlining cost participation for this federally funded project; and deciding whether to approve a $94,400 contract with Rina North America for environmental studies, traffic analysis, ADA evaluations, and other preliminary work.

Officials have stated that federal funds will cover 80 percent of these road improvement costs while Park Forest’s share—20 percent—will be offset by transportation development credits so there will be no net cost to local taxpayers.

As with all regular meetings of the board, Monday's session will begin with reports from Village officers followed by time allotted for citizen comments.

The meeting will be streamed live on the Village of Park Forest’s website. The full agenda can also be viewed online.
