Char Spiess | Vandenberg Funeral Home - Mokena

Char Spiess (nee Marchbank), 80, of Homer Glen, IL, passed away on August 30, 2025. She was a devoted companion, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Char spent around 30 years working at the New Lenox Lumber Yard and enjoyed breeding and showing champion Dobermans and Dalmatians. She was also passionate about riding and caring for horses, and was an active member of the Stone City Kennel Club 4H in New Lenox. Char loved snowmobiling in Northern Wisconsin and treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Char was the beloved wife of the late Lloyd Spiess and long-time companion of Bill Graves. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings. Visitation will be held on September 8, 2025, with a Chapel Service on September 9, 2025, followed by interment at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Illinois Doberman Rescue.
