Village of Channahon Board of Trustees met Aug. 4.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
VP Moorman Schumacher called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll call was taken with Trustees Greco, McMillin, Perinar, Scaggs and Slocum present.
Also present were Village Administrator Thomas Durkin, Assistant Village Administrator Mike Petrick, Director of Community Development Scott McMaster, Director of Public Works Ed Dolezal, Chief of Police Adam Bogart, Village Attorney David Silverman and Village Clerk Kristin Hall.
VP Moorman Schumacher informed everyone present that anyone who speaks at the meeting shall be deemed to have given his/her consent to the recording of their likeness and speech. This meeting is being recorded.

REPORTS & COMMUNICATIONS FROM VILLAGE OFFICIALS
A. VILLAGE PRESIDENT
VP Moorman Schumacher stated it is fest week. For those of you that signed up, the Sponsor's Dinner is tomorrow at 6 p.m. over at the big top tent. Wednesday is Special Needs day, so if you have an opportunity to stop over in the afternoon, that is truly one of her favorite events. The parade is Sunday. If you are planning on being in the parade, let Leti know by tomorrow. We will be meeting at the Village Hall at 11 a.m. This past Wednesday, Silverthorne Builders had a ribbon cutting on Settlers Pond Road. They are going to be doing their townhouses and duplexes next. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library had their kick-off last weekend, if you know anyone who is a Will County resident between the ages of 1 and 5, if they sign up at www.willcountyimaginationlibrary.org, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Will County will send them a book every month until they reach the age of 5. It is a phenomenal program. The Children's Advocacy Men Who Cook fundraiser is coming up on October 11th.
B. VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR
Consider Approval - A Resolution Authorizing the Creation of the Arts and Culture Commission Fund, or Fund 06
Trustee Slocum made a motion to approve A Resolution Authorizing the Creation of the Arts and Culture Commission Fund, or Fund 06. Seconded by Trustee Perinar.
ROLL CALL AYES: Greco, Perinar, Scaggs and Slocum.
NAYS: McMillin MOTION CARRIED
Consider Approval-An Ordinance Implementing a Municipal Grocery Retailers' Occupation Tax and a Municipal Grocery Service Occupation Tax
VP Moorman Schumacher stated that this will be on the next agenda for second read.
C. ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT
Petrick stated that he had no formal items.
D. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Reminder- Planning and Zoning Commission Regular Meeting, Monday, August 11, 2025 at the Channahon Municipal Building at 6:00 p.m.
McMaster stated that the next PZC meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 11th at 6 p.m. It will be the same agenda as last month because there was not a quorum. The agenda will include final site plan approval for Premier Trailers and the Mallory Plaza final site plan.
E. FINANCE DEPARTMENT
Durkin stated that there are no formal items.
F. POLICE DEPARTMENT
Bogart stated that going back to July 18th, we received notification from IDOT, through their Highway Safety Improvement Program that the intersection of Route 6 and the northbound ramp ofl-55, which is the number one crash intersection in town, will be converted to a dual the eastbound left tum movement at the east junction, on green arrow only. They will be re-striping US Route 6 to provide that dual tum lane.
G. PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Consider Approval-Award Quality Assurance Materials Testing Service to Rubino Engineering

Trustee Perinar made a motion to approve the Design Services for Primary and Secondary Receiving Sites for GPWC, Award Quality Assurance Materials Testing Service to Rubino Engineering and Resolutions for Improvements Under the Illinois Highway Code. Seconded by Trustee Scaggs.

H. VILLAGE ATTORNEY
Village Attorney Dave Silverman stated he had no report.
LIAISON REPORTS
Trustee Sam Greco and Trustee Patricia Perinar - Finance/Human Resources Trustee Perinar stated that the application period for the Police Department are now closed, a total of 99 applications were received. Channahon is a great place to be. Staff is currently reviewing the list and testing will be conducted in the next few weeks.
VP Moorman Schumacher stated that for the Public Works position we had open, we received 87 applications.
Dolezal stated that since you brought that up, we have taken the ad down. We immediately went to advertise that position, like we normally would. Staff is recommending that we not fill that position and wait until we organize with the new Public Works facility. We will convey that to the applicants.
Trustee Scott Slocum and Trustee Scott McMillin - Community Development Trustee Slocum asked if we found out anything about the abandoned house on Route 6 and Dove.
McMaster stated that they are working on it.
Trustee Slocum stated that he got an email from a resident, that a warehouse on Bradley and Route 6 has mold on the rock.
Durkin stated that he has been conversing with the owner on holiday lighting, so he can reach out to that person.
Trustee McMillin stated that we can remove it and they would have to have someone seal it. He would like the Board's permission to send a thank you to the gentlemen that did the Great Loop in a j on boat.
VP Moorman Schumacher stated that we can send him a Channahon shirt.

Seconded by Trustee Slocum.
