REGULAR MEETING of the City Council of the City of Lockport, Illinois was held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 in the Lockport Township Community Room, located at 1463 Farrell Road, Lockport, IL. Mayor, Steve Streit called the Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

d. Fire Fest – August 9, 1-6 pm, hosted by Main Street Lockport, at 10th Street
e. Movie at the Roxy – August 23 – exclusive screening of The Fright Stuff, tickets for sale on the City Website

3. Pugh – Police Liaison Report
a. On Wednesday August 13, 4-7 pm Lockport Police Officers will be at Culver’s for Burgers & Badges. A fundraiser for Special Olympics, 10% of every order will be donated to Special Olympics, Illinois and Lockport Officers will be serving food and taking donations.
b. Officers Ganger, Henning and Pendl will be formally honored by the Homer Township Fire Protection District for their bravery and courageous actions. While on duty, the officers observed a house fire in progress behind Thornton’s gas station. Before the arrival of the fire department, they selflessly forced entry into the home, at great personal risk, to search for potential victims. Fortunately, no residents were inside at the time. However, the officers were able to save the family pets. In recognition of their extraordinary efforts, the Homer Township Fire District Board of Trustees will formally recognize officers Ganger, Henning, and Pendl at their next meeting, August 20, 4 pm.
c. The Lockport Police Community Event, August 2 at Lockport East High School was a tremendous success. We welcomed over 1000 attendees and served more than 800 hot dogs throughout the day. A heartfelt thank you to all the local businesses, sponsors and community partners who helped make this event truly special.
4. McDonald – Finance
a. Two new hires
b. HVAC work being done on the City Hall building; door 3 will be available, for anyone that needs to conduct City business
