Sister Dolores M. Blahaus, Known for Dedication to Ministry, Passes Away at 95

Sr. Dolores M. Blahaus | Richard J. Modell Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Homer Glen

Sister Dolores M. Blahaus, age 95, of Homer Glen, a member of the Society of Helpers, passed away. She was born on July 29, 1930, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Louis and Mary Blahaus. Sister Dolores was the devoted sister of the late Ruth (Anthony) Crocono and the loving aunt of Barbara (Frank) Crocono and Carol Crocono, as well as the late Robert Crocono.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21 at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Marian Village, with the funeral Mass starting at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery.

Sister Dolores took her First Vows in 1954 and Final Vows in 1957. She dedicated her life to ministry, working as a Director of Religious Education in various Chicago parishes, serving as a Catechist and Hospital Chaplain in the Humbolt Park Community. Despite losing the use of one eye in an accident, she pursued education, obtaining Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Religious Studies from Mundelein College in Chicago. Sister Dolores also learned to drive, obtaining her driver's license and driving until her retirement in 2005.
