The Village of New Lenox is organizing an event called "A Pathway to Hope and Healing" on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. The event will take place from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Lions Community Center located at 1 Manor Drive in New Lenox, Illinois.
According to the announcement, the event aims to address issues related to suicide by raising awareness and reducing stigma. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Marie Kress will speak at the gathering. "Attendees will hear from Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Marie Kress, who will share insights and strategies for fostering mental wellness and suicide prevention, with a focus on mental health and the adult population," states the Village of New Lenox. Kress holds a Master of Science in Human Services degree from Capella University, specializing in mental health counseling. She has worked with clients of various ages and backgrounds and is the founder of The Mental Wellness Center of Manhattan.
The program includes resource tables staffed by local support organizations. Free food from a food truck will be available for guests. Organizers emphasize that this event coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day and serves as an opportunity for community members to learn more about mental health resources while connecting with one another.
