Revised traffic control measures and street closures will take effect at the Six Corners intersection in Joliet starting August 11, 2025. The changes are part of the ongoing Plainfield Road Water Main Improvement Project, which includes new pavement construction at the intersection of Plainfield Road/Black Road and Ruby Street/N Raynor Avenue.

The city announced that northbound traffic on N. Raynor Avenue from Mason Avenue to Black Road will be closed. Eastbound traffic on Black Road from Prairie Avenue to N. Raynor Avenue will also be closed, as well as westbound traffic on Ruby Street from Kelly Avenue to Raynor Avenue. Southbound Raynor Avenue will remain open for through traffic, but the left turn lane will be closed and left turns will not be allowed. On Plainfield Road, one lane in each direction will stay open; however, the west-bound left turn lane will be closed and no left turns will be permitted. Local detours are being set up for drivers affected by these changes.

These temporary measures are expected to last until August 18, 2025. Drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes during this period.

"We appreciate your patience and ask that you drive slowly and cautiously through any construction zone," city officials said in a statement.

Further details about the project can be found at www.joliet.gov/construction-zone. Residents with questions can contact the Public Utilities Department at (815) 724-4220.
