The City of Joliet has named the 2025 recipients of its Neighborhood Hero Award, which honors residents for outstanding property maintenance and landscaping. Ten residential properties were selected this year for their efforts in creating attractive yards with maintained lawns, flowers, shrubs, trees, and creative hardscaping.
“These residents exemplify what it means to be proud members of the Joliet community,” said Mayor Terry D’Arcy. “Their efforts help beautify our neighborhoods and inspire others to take similar pride in their homes.”
Winners received a celebratory yard sign and were recognized during the August 5 City Council meeting. The addresses honored include: 222 S. Rowell Avenue; 1311 Fuller Avenue; 1022 Arthur Avenue; 722 W. Marion Street; 17 S. Reedwood Drive; 11 S. Oneill Street; 1216 W. Caton Avenue; 880 Copley Lane; 938 Mosby Court; and 8006 Wood River Street.
According to city officials, Joliet has supported the Neighborhood Hero Award program for several years as part of an effort to encourage property upkeep and enhance community image. The program aims to motivate more residents to invest in neighborhood appearance.
Joliet is located about thirty miles southwest of Chicago in Will and Kendall counties and serves as the county seat for Will County. As of the most recent census, it is Illinois’ third largest city with a population exceeding 150,000 (https://www.joliet.gov).
