Peggy Joyce was born on February 20, 1938, in Fort Wayne County, Illinois, to parents James and Ruby (Edmison) Bruce. Growing up in Fairfield, she graduated from Fairfield High School, Class of 1956. On January 10, 1957, she married Glen Earl Daniels, moving to Wilmington where they raised their family together.
Peggy's career included work at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant and later at the Wilmington Police Department as an emergency line operator and supervisor until her retirement. A faithful woman and devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington, Peggy lived a life enriched by her love for family, her faith, and her passions.
She had a variety of interests, from doll collecting to crafting and tending to her flower garden. Peggy's unwavering dedication to her family was apparent in every aspect of her life. She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, treasuring every moment spent with her loved ones and finding joy in their milestones and achievements.
Peggy is survived by her children: Patti (Bill) Calhoon, Randy (Kathy) Daniels, and Tammy (John) McCormick; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and her dear friend, Jane Ashcraft. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Daniels, sons Billy and Kevin Daniels, siblings, and parents.
The visitation will be held at Baskerville Funeral Home in Wilmington on August 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with funeral services following on August 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Oakwood Sunset Cemetery in Wilmington.
