Construction work on the Chicago Street Streetscape project in downtown Joliet will temporarily affect access to the Ottawa Street parking deck entrance on Tuesday, August 5, and Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The closure is necessary for the installation of a new ComEd electrical service as part of ongoing improvements.

According to city officials, the entrance driveway will be closed for about two hours from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Tuesday while workers remove the concrete entrance and prepare it for restoration. On Wednesday, the entrance will close again from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., this time for installation of new electrical conduits. Access will be restored as soon as possible after each closure.

"Another press release will be sent out when the new driveway concrete restoration takes place after Com Ed has installed the transformer and new electrical service," stated city representatives.

The exit from the parking deck will remain open throughout this period and is not affected by the construction activities.

City officials said that additional updates would be provided as construction continues.
