Brick paver installation along the Chicago Street corridor has been completed, according to a recent update from the City of Joliet. Fencing that had lined the sidewalks in finished areas is being taken down, and wood lattices are being added to shade structures in the City Square.

Looking ahead to the week of August 4th, electrical work will continue in the City Square. Additional electrical upgrades are planned near the entrance of the Ottawa Street Parking Garage, which may temporarily affect access due to concrete removal. Masonry stone work on piers for shade structures in the square is also scheduled to begin.

The city reports that advance utility location work for future fiber optic installations will start on Chicago Street south of Jefferson and along Washington Street. This work could impact on-street parking and may require daytime lane closures during working hours.

Shade structures in the square have become visible features as construction progresses. Electrical conduits needed for streetlighting along Chicago Street have also been installed.
